Há uns dias atrás , íamos a caminho de São Jacinto, quando uma actividade imensa de aves marinhas a mergulhar nos chamou a atenção. Parámos o carro e o cenário era este: estávamos perante cardumes intermináveis de pequenas sardinhas, que eram permanentemente atacados dentro e fora de água. Obviamente que não podíamos recusar este chamamento da Ria de Aveiro e São Jacinto ficaria para outro dia.
A nossa principal tarefa como pescadores foi tentar perceber qual a amostra que se assemelhava mais ao abundante peixe pasto e qual o melhor padrão para a animar. Acabamos por ter sucesso com jerkbaits, passeantes e stickbaits... todos eles pequenos, com 4 ou 5 cm. A grande limitação que nos colocaram foi a distância do lançamento, uma vez que utilizamos amostras entre 2 e 10g. Felizmente levávamos material light, sobretudo multifilamentos finos - no meu caso um PE 0,6, o que tornou as lutas ainda mais espetaculares!

"The Ria de Aveiro beckoned with dozens of fish!
A few days ago, we were on our way to São Jacinto, when a huge activity of seabirds diving caught our attention. We stopped the car and this was the scenario: we were faced with endless schools of small sardines, which were constantly attacked in and out of the water. Obviously we couldn't refuse this call from the Ria de Aveiro and São Jacinto would be for another day.
Our main task as fishermen was to try to understand which lure most resembled the abundant pasture fish and what was the best pattern to animate it. We ended up having success with jerkbaits, surface lures and stickbaits... all of them small, 4 or 5 cm. The biggest limitation they placed on us was the casting distance, since we used lures between 2 and 10g. Fortunately, we carried light material, especially thin multifilaments - in my case PE 0.6, which made the fights even more spectacular!
